Seven Layer Salad


1 head lettuce, shredded
1 (8 oz0 can sliced water chestnuts, drained
1 (10 oz) pkg. frozen peas,
cooked, drained, cooled
1 c. chopped celery
1 c. chopped onion OR
chopped green peppers
1 1/2 c. mayonnaise
2 tbs. sugar
2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 lb. bacon, crisp-fried and crumbled

In a glass serving dish, layer lettuce, peas,
water chestnuts, celery and onion.
Spread mayonnaise over top, sealing to edge.
Sprinkle with sugar, cheese and bacon.
Chill, covered, for 24 hours.
Makes 8 servings.
