Apple Fritters 2


2 c all purpose flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbs. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
2 eggs
1 c. milk
4 large cooking apples, peeled,
cored and cut into 1/2" rings
salad oil
conf. sugar or maple syrup

In medium bowl, combine first 5 ingredients.
In small bowl, beat eggs with milk;
add to flour mixture and beat well.
In 4-qt. saucepan, heat 2" oil to 375F.
Dip apple slices into batter.
Fry a few at a time until golden, turning once.
Drain on paper towels.
Sprinkle with conf. sugar or serve with syrup.

Peach fritters:
Prepare as above but substitute 6 peaces, peeled,
pitted and cut into wedges for apple slices.
