Apricot Orange Bread


1 c. sugar
2 tbs. butter, softened
1 egg
3/4 c. EACH: milk, orange juice
4 tsp. grated orange rind
3 c. sifted flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. finely chopped dried apricots
3/4 c. choped nuts (optional)

Grease a 9x5" loaf pan.
Preheat oven to 350F.
In a large bowl, mix thoroughly sugar,
butter and egg. Stir in milk, orange juice
and orange rind. Sift together the flour,
baking powder and salt. Stir dry ingredients
into the sugar mixture, blending thoroughly.

Add the apricots and nuts, stirring just until mixed.
Pour into loaf pan and let stand 20 min.
before placing in oven. Bake 70 min.
Let cool 15 min. before removing from loaf pan.
Makes 15 slices.
