Baptist Poundcake


3 c. sugar
5 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 stick butter
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk

Have all ingredients room temperature.
Cream sugar, shortening and butter.
Add eggs one at a time. Sift dry ingredients.
Add alternatively with milk. Add vanilla.
Pour into greased and floured tube pan.
Put in COLD oven.
Bake at 350°, 1 1/4 hr. or until golden brown.
