Bread Soufflé Sandwiches

12 Slices bread
Spreading butter
Toppings - shrimp, crab, chicken or ham
Salt, pepper, paprika
3 Whole eggs
3 Cups milk
1/2 lb. cheddar cheese, grated
Remove crusts from bread.
Butter both sides of bread;
place in proper size pan deep enough to hold milk.
Top with can of above toppings.
Place another piece of buttered bread on top of each.
Beat eggs together with milk and add grated cheese;
pour this mixture over bread sandwiches.
Bake 1 1/2 hours at 350F.
This can be prepared a day ahead and refrigerate.
After baking one can garnish with a few asparagus tips
or a little mushroom gravy depending on
the choice of filling. Serves 6.
