Betty Dugdale's Cheese Straws


2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. red pepper
1 stick of softened butter
1 lb. sharp cheese, grated

Mix all ingredients with hands until thoroughly combined.
Divide dough into thirds and roll between waxed paper.
Place in refrigerator until firm.
Then slice and bake at 450F until very lightly browned.
Remove from cookie sheet before the bottoms burn.
Yield: 8-9 dozen.
