Deep South Ice Box Rolls

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. crisco
1 pt. milk
1 yeast cake
7 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Bring sugar, crisco and milk to boil.
Let cool until lukewarm.
Dissolve yeast cake in 1/2 c. lukewarm water
and add to sugar mixture. Add 5 c. flour.
Let rise 2 hours. Sift 2 c. flour, salt, soda
and baking powder together.
Add to other mixture. Place in refrigerator
in large container to prevent overflow.
Two hours before baking,
make into rolls and let rise.
