Dutch Apple Fritters


8-10 apples peeled, cored and sliced
or cut into rounds at least 1/3" thick
2 c. all purpose flour, sifted
1 (2 oz) can or bottle of ale
1/2 tsp. salt
oil, lard or shortening
conf. sugar

Combine ale, flour and salt with a fork
or whisk until mixture is smooth.
Dip apple slices in mixture.
Fry in deep fat or in 1" of oil in heavy skillet
at 370F frying temperature. Drain.
Sprinkle with conf. sugar.
Serve immediately. Serves 4-6.
