Flaming Pears
My recipe featured in Southern Living



2 tbs. butter or margarine
1/4 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 c. orange juice 1 (29 oz) can pear halves, drained and quartered
1/4 c. slivered almonds, toasted
2 tbs. brandy
Vanilla ice cream

Melt butter in a large skillet;
add brown sugar and orange juice.
Cook over medium heat,
stirring until sugar dissolves.
Add pears and almonds;
cook until thoroughly heated.

Place brandy in a small, long-handled saucepan;
heat just until warm (do not boil).
Ignite brandy, and pour over pears;
stir until flames die down.
Serve immediately over vanilla ice cream.
Yield: 6-8 servings.
