Fried Green Tomatoes


4 lg. green tomatoes
1/2 c. all purpose flour or cornmeal
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. salt
bacon drippings or salad oil

Cut tomatoes into 1/4" slices.
Combine flour, salt and pepper;
dredge tomato slices with this mixture.
Place in heavy skillet containing hot bacon drippings.
Fry slowly until brown, turning once.
Makes 6-8.
