Halifax Rolls

1 1/2 c. sugar
6 eggs
3 tbs. salt
3 pkg. dry yeast
4 c. lukewarm water
3 c. vegetable shortening
6 c. plain flour
In a large bowl, mix sugar, eggs, salt and
yeast in lukewarm water. Let stand 10 min.
In a separate bowl, cut shortening into flour.
Stir in sugar mixture.
Let rise at room temperature for 2 hrs.
Punch down and shape into rolls.
Place on greased baking sheet.
Let rise 1 1/2 hrs. longer. Preheat oven to 450F.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 min.
Makes 36 rolls.
