Lemon Bread

1/2 c. butter
2 eggs. slightly beaten
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
grated peel and juice of one lemon
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 2/3 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
Preheat oven to 350F.
Cream butter with 1 c. of sugar,
reserving the 1/4 c. sugar. Add eggs and mix.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Add to sugar mixture alternately with milk.
Mix in nuts and lemon peel.
Bake in greased 5x9" loaf pan 1 hour.
Combine remaining sugar with lemon juice.
Pour over top of loaf while hot.
