Lemon Tea Bread

6 tbs. margarine
1 1/2 c. sugar, divided
2 eggs
1/ c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
pinch salt
1/2 c. English walnuts, chopped
1 lemon, juice and grated zest
Preheat oven to 350F.
Grease by 5x9" loaf pan; set aside.
In a large bowl, beat margarine and
1 c. sugar until creamy;
add eggs and beat well.
Add milk, flour, baking powder and salt
alternately to the margarine mixture.
Stir in nuts and lemon zest.
Pour into prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven 50-55 min.
In a small bowl, combine remaining sugar
and lemon juice to use as a glaze.
Remove bread from pan and immediately
spoon glaze over top. Makes 8.
