Mom's Chicken a la King


2 c. cooked, diced chicken
2 tsp. chopped green pepper
1/2 c. mushrooms
2 lightly beaten egg yolks
1 1/2 tbs. flour
1 1/2 c. cream (half and half or milk)
3 tbs. butter
salt and pepper to taste
garlic powder (optional)
splash of cooking sherry (optional)

Cook pepper 5 min. in butter.
Blend in flour and stir 1 min.
Add cream and cook until thick.
Add mushrooms, chicken and seasonings.
Add some sauce to the egg mixture
to temper it, then stir in egg mixture.
Cook over low heat 2 minutes.
Use a bit of chicken broth to thin if necessary.
Serve on patty shells, over rice,
egg noodles, biscuits, a baked potato, etc.
