Nina's Beef Casserole


1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 green pepper, diced
1 tsp. basil
1 (l lb.) can tomatoes
8 slices Cheddar cheese
1 onion, diced
4 tbs. oleo
1/2 c. uncooked rice
3 tbs. Parmesan cheese
salt and pepper

Melt oleo; add beef, onion, green pepper and rice;
saute until pepper is softened.
Add remaining ingredients except cheeses and place in casserole.
Bake 350°, 1 hr.
After 50 min. put cheese slices on top;
sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and bake 10 min. longer.
Serves 6.
