Old-Fashioned Sweet Coleslaw


5 c. finely chopped cabbage
(about 1 small head)
2 carrots, scraped and shredded
1-2 tbs. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/3 c. mayonnaise or salad dressing

Combine cabbage and carrots in a large bowl.
Sprinkle with sugar, salt, and pepper; toss gently.
Stir in mayonnaise. Cover and chill thoroughly.
Yield: 6-8 servings.
