Orange Slice Cookies


3 c. rolled oats
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tbs. water
1 1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
2 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 (7 oz.) can flaked coconut
1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
2 c. chopped orange slice candy

Mix oats, flour and baking powder in bowl.
Dissolve baking soda in water in small bowl.
Cream shortening, sugar and brown sugar in bowl.
Mix in eggs and baking soda mixture. Stir in coconut.
Stir in oat mixture gradually.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes
or until light brown.
Cool on cookie sheet for 2 minutes;
remove to wire rack to cool completely.
