Pork Chops, Sweet Potatoes and Apples

1 (29 oz) can dry-pack sweet potatoes
2 1/2 c. sliced apples OR
1 (20 oz) can sliced apples
sald and pepper to taste
4 end loin pork chops
(about 1 1/2 lb.)
oil for browning chops
1/2 c. water
Preheat oven to 350F.
Slice sweet potatoes and arrange
with sliced apples in 1 1/2 qt. casserole dish.
Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper.
In a large skillet over moderate heat,
brown pork chops on both sides in a little oil.
Arrange on top of mixture in dish.
Add water.
Bake uncovered in oven until
chops are tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
