Smothered Cabbage


1 head cabbage, cut up
1 scant spoon (cooking spoon) oil
1 onion, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped
1 hot pepper
Salt and pepper to taste

Heat oil in saucepan.
Add onion, bell pepper and hot pepper.
Cook on low heat for 5 to 10 minutes.
Add cabbage, salt and pepper.
Cabbage will brown somewhat.
Cook about one hour.

Note: 1/2 teaspoon sugar-substitute may also be added
for a slight sweet taste at the end of cooking
