Sparkling Lemonade


1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. lemon juice (about 8 lg. lemons)
1 tbs. grated lemon peel
4 (28 oz) bottles club soda, chilled
lemon slices
ice cubes

2 hrs. - 1 week before:

Prepare syrup: In 1-qt. jar, stir sugar, lemon juice,
lemon peel and 1 1/2 c. hot water until sugar
is dissolved. Cover and refrigerate.

To serve:
For each serving, pour 1/4 c. syrup over ice cubes
in 12-oz.glass; stir in about 3/4 c. club soda.
Garnish with a lemon slice. 16 (1 cup) servings.
