Little Auntie Vetra Opal Countryman's Biscuits

3 C flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt
6 Tbs. shortening 1 C milk
Sift together dry ingredients.
Using two knives, cut in the shortening.
Add milk and stir, but not too much.
Overworking the dough will make it tough.
Turn dough onto a floured board.
Knead lightly (10 to 12 strokes) and pat to 1/2" thick.
Cut with floured cutter, juice glass, or clean tin can.
Bake on ungreased pan 450° for 12 minutes.
Leave an inch or two between them for crispy sides,
or cuddle them close together for soft sides.
